RTÉ must issue 'Late Late' invite to Dana ! Late Late Show improperly interfered with Presidential nomination process RTÉ and the Late Late Show improperly interfered in the process of nominating candidates for the Presidency of Ireland, a spokesperson for the Family and Media Association said, late, yesterday. By allowing Senator David Norris to appear on last Friday's Late Late show, the national broadcaster has given a considerable impetus to the campaign of the Senator who now stands on the threshold of securing a nomination. Furthermore, if by the close of nominations, on 28th September, the situation is that Senator Norris has ben nominated but Dana Rosemary Scallon has not, RTÉ will have influenced the outcome of the Presidential election in a most improper way. This would also be a clear breach of the 2009 Broadcasting Act and the new Broadcasting Authority of Ireland Broadcasting Code On Referenda and Election Coverage, which came into effect on the 13th September, prior to last week's Late Late Show. RTÉ would now appear to have little option other than to invite Dana Rosemary Scallon onto tonight's Late Late Show, as this will be the last opportunity for her to appear on the programme prior to the close of nominations. The implications of the Late Late Show's interference in the nomination process are compounded by the fact that the show is now sponsored. ENDS
