PRESS RELEASE - Family and Media Association Christmas Media Report - 11:30AM 22 December 2009

The X-Factor: Keeping Christ in Christmas -
Strange media response to publication of Civil Partnership Bill -
Mary: the antidote for media induced desensitisation in families

The Family and Media Association (FMA) has today released the Christmas edition of its Media Report magazine. In the Report, FMA questions what it calls the "incomprehensible response by the Irish media in general and by RTÉ in particular to the publication of the Civil Partnership Bill." The Report also draws attention to the battle to keep Christ "the Real 'X' Factor" at the heart of 'X'-mas and highlights an address by the Pope which calls on people to use Mary to overcome the hardness of heart which can be caused by repeated exposure to negative imagery in the media. Other stories: Dracula meets Theology of the Body, 'Rogue verses weighed', No 'Baby Love' from 'The Supremes', The (David) Attenborough Effect (treating religion like rare species to be studied), Pornography -- the "quiet family killer" (new study)
